Trendy Thursday: Sweet, Sheet Music

Today's featured trend in paper crafting was inspired by a card in the current issue of Paper Crafts magazine using Sheet Music Prints. Stampin' Up!, in keeping up with the latest and greatest, has included such a print in the Newsprint Designer Series Paper collection perfect for card making and scrapbooking.
I recruited my Big Shot to help with this project. The Table Setting Bigz XL Die provided the spiral for the flower and the NEW Tasteful Trim Bigz XL in the Holiday Mini created the scallop borders. Gotta love that! I used the beautiful Top Note Bigz Die to show off this music print. Always Artichoke 1/2" Seam Binding and a Big Designer Button add a wow factor and a simple "merry" from Tiny Tags adds the finishing touch.

Trendy Thursday: The Env(y) of "Mini"

The other day, I saw some mini envelopes with a tiny card tucked inside to attach to a gift. I thought these would also be really cute tucked in a lunch sack, under a pillow, or even as a Christmas Countdown with phrases of holiday cheer, scripture verses, or a cute stamped image so I decided to give it a go and creating one.
And, how about another little trinket pin?

Fabulous Friday: Fab Fabric from Stampin' Up!

Here's a snazzy little number that I wanted to share. Super simple tote bag.
I cut two, 13 x 14 1/2 pieces of fabric and stitched together, then turned down the top edge and stitched. The handles are about 22" long and cut 1 1/2" wide, pressed, stitched by machine, and attached to the bag with hand stitching.
Bigz XL Flower Fold Die cut the flower pieces, streamers are torn scraps of fabric, and Very Vanilla Taffeta Ribbon dyed by pressing into a Cherry Cobbler Classic Ink Pad. A Cherry Cobbler Big Designer Button with crochet thread finishes the center of the flower. (Flower is attached with pin so it can be removed for washing.
Love this...carry it everywhere with my Holiday Mini Catalogs.
Questions? Email me :).

Tuesday Tip: Textured Impressions Embossing Folders

Love the look of a textured card front?
Just a quick tip today when using the Textured Impressions Embossing Folders from Stampin' Up!
To emboss the entire front of a standard size, 5 1/2 x 4 1/4 card, cut your card stock (8 1/2 x 11) on the short side in half at 4 1/4. This way, you can insert one end of the card into the folder with the remainder of the card extending beyond (as in the photo). Be sure to make the proper "sandwich"---Multipurpose Platform- Tab 1, Standard Cutting Pad, folder with card stock, the other Standard Cutting Pad---then roll it through! You'll have a beautiful textured card front.

Look for the Textured Impressions Folders on p.214 of the Idea Book and Catalog. These folders make beautiful impressions in a variety of styles. If you have any questions, let me know... I'm here to help!

OK... you're back. Now for the share!
I just love the Designer Series Paper from Stampin' Up! It is SO versatile. This paper is from the Nite Owl collection...Halloween paper! But, in true Stampin' Up! fashion, most of the pages in this set have one side that is not JUST for the particular occasion or holiday. Which gives you more for your money...we know how we like that!
The little treat box is made with the Big Shot and the Matchbox Die and I attached some cute little "sweet on you" tags to the ribbon with a Vintage Trinket. I put a couple of miniature chocolates inside... Hope it makes him smile.

Super Saturday: Stampin' Up! Nite Owl Designer Paper

A super cute project for you today...
I created this Halloween Bingo Game from the Nite Owl Designer Series Paper from the Stampin' Up! Holiday Mini Catalog!
I'm sure that most of you, like me, have a youngster in your life that would love a special little treat like this. It was so easy to put together!
This pack of designer paper has 2 sheets each of 6 designs so I cut the four "bingo"cards from one of the sheets and mounted onto Basic Black card stock. From the other identical sheet, I cut the number squares from one of the bingo cards and punched 1 1/4 " Basic Black squares for mounting these. Then, I used my Big Shot XL Bigz Box #2 and created a little Tangerine Tango box to hold the number squares. I cut the lid off the box for easy access and embellished the front with the little ghostess from Batty for You and a fan fold flower from another print in the designer paper pack.
I found the individually wrapped gumballs at a dollar store and thought these would be perfect for markers. The empty drink bottle was gussied up with more designer paper and ribbon.
Try making a set like this to treat a special young one in your life ...or maybe even for the kid in you!-----Have a great day!

Super Saturday: Super In Color, Blushing Bride

Welcome to Super Saturday on ink and inspirations where today I would like to feature one of the new In Colors, Blushing Bride.
I used a sheet of patterned paper from the Designer Series Patterns Pack (Level 1 Hostess Set)* for the background layer. You know me and how I love to "grunge" things up so I added some Basic Gray to the color scheme and a really distressed bloom that I created with the Stampin' Up! Birds and Blooms Sizzlits 4-Pack-113485 and the 5-Petal Flower Punch-119880. After cutting and punching the flowers, I stamped the "happy" and "wish" definitions from Define Your Life-114950 randomly and used some Charcoal distressing ink from my Distressing Essentials Kit-118762 to ink the edges. Chunky Black Glitter (Chunky Essentials)--108797 is sprinkled on the flower center.
Other Supplies:
Teeny Tiny Wishes-115370, I {Heart} Hearts- wood:117010,Clear:118571 Pinking Hearts Border Punch-117649, Basic Gray Satin Ribbon (only available for 4 more days!)-117666, Color Spritzer Tool-107066, mini flower stamp(background) from Priceless-115052, Basic Gray card stock-121044 Classic Ink - 109120 and Marker-120966, Basic Black cardstock-121045, In Color Markers-119801, Big Shot-113439

Also featured here are My Digital Studio-118108 elements. This is what you could call a hybrid project...a combination of traditional and digital elements.
I printed the tag and card sentiment and definition and the witch's hat from the Eat, Drink, and Be Scary Brush Stamp Set from My Digital Studio. Super cool to be able to print that out to use on my project!

Trendy Thursday: Ribbon and Lace

Is ribbon and lace ever missing from a crafting"style-watch"? Not in my book anyway! If you have followed my blog long enough, you KNOW that I absolutely adore ribbon! Here, I have made a little bit of a switch-up and used Natural Hemp Twine for my bow. Narrow Basic Black Grosgrain is bunched and adhered as an accent. And, the lace is paper made with the help of my Eyelet Border Punch. I broke down the fibers with my Bone Folder (much like curling ribbon) and easily gathered it with the help of Sticky Strip. Really easy and such a fun look.

I chose some little smiling faces from the All in the Family set to coordinate with the "laughter" sentiment from one my new favorites, Word Play. I used the Signo White Gel pen to break up the Basic Black base which I had textured with Perfect Polka Dots Textured Impressions Folder and the Big Shot. Patterned Poppy Parade Designer Paper is from the Level 1 Hostess Set.
Try this paper lace technique on your next card. Email me if you have questions.

Enjoy your day!--Lisa

Stampin up! Jackpot: Keeping Score

Hello all!

Just checking in to post a cute score pad that I made this past weekend.  Love that Jackpot Designer Series Paper (113995).  I found the specs for this little creation online and love using it with a Post It Pad.  You can see that I have converted it to a to-do pad for me!

I used the Stampin' Up! Alphabet Simple Letters (115960) to cut the word SCORE with my Big Shot (113439) and sponged around the edges with Basic Black to make it pop. 1/4" ribbon glued beneath the designer paper layers help keep the folder closed when not in use!

Stampin' Up! Big Shot and Flower Folds: Hair Accessory

When my daughters saw my fabric flowers the first thing they asked was if I could make one to wear in their hair. Both of my daughters have very long hair and they wear "pony tails" often so I came up with this mini version using the smallest two flower cuts from the Flower Folds Bigz XL Die(115970).
I had a vintage patchwork quilt top from which I cut the flowers and I tucked some pieces of brown net between the layers. The vintage button is from a find at an estate sale...isn't it awesome! I attached one of the flowers to a hair band by stitching. Next time, I might try attaching a pin back to the flower. If that works, then it will double the wear as a pin on a garment!

Stampin' Up! Vintage Butterfly: Beautiful Background Stamps

Hi all!
I just love using background stamps, don't you? Bold or subtle, it adds so much interest to your cards or layouts.
Here's a card I made for a friend using the Stampin' Up! Beautiful Butterflies Bigz Die(114507) and stamped with one of my favorite backgrounds, En Francais(109521) along with Vintage Vogue(117690-wood, 118598-clear), and Tiny Tags(118091-wood, 118592-clear).
How about a little step by step?...
  • Crushed Curry (5 1/2 x 4 1/4"), stamped with En Francais in Crushed Curry.
  • Card edges distressed with Cutter Kit and sponged with Soft Suede Classic Ink.
  • Layers of Soft Suede(3 1/2 x 3") and Textured Rich Razzleberry( 3 1/4 x 2 3/4") are distressed and sponged with Soft Suede Classic.
  • Rich Razzleberry Classic Ink used to stamp border floral image from Vintage Vogue on the Rich Razzleberry piece.
  • Cut Beautiful Butterfly with Big Shot(113439) from Naturals Ivory card stock.
  • Ink En Francais background again with Crushed Curry Classic Ink. Then, take your Soft Suede Classic Ink pad and apply sparingly directly over the Crushed Curry ink. You do not want full coverage here...just enough to give an aged, vintage look. Stamp your butterfly.
  • Using your Stampin' Write Markers (Rich Razzleberry and Soft Suede) to apply ink to the floral vine image from Vintage Vogue and stamp on the butterfly over the En Francais background.
  • Sponge edges of butterfly with Soft Suede.
  • Apply a layer of Crystal Effects over the stamped butterfly. It will take a while to dry but really makes the colors pop and is worth the effort!
  • Cut a slit in the upper fold of the card base with your Craft and Hobby Blade. This will allow you to slide your ribbon through it. I used about 15" of Vanilla 5/8" Satin Ribbon.
  • Stamp images from Tiny Tags and punch with Medium Jewelry Tag Punch(117190). Pierce a hole in each tag with your Paper Piercing Tool.
  • Use Linen Thread(104199) to attach tags to your ribbon. I placed the ends of the strands of Linen Thread on the ribbon before I tied the knot and this secured these tags to the ribbon.
  • Complete card by adding butterfly to layers and then this piece to the card.
If you need any of these supplies, visit my Online Store.
Let me know in the comment section if you liked this step by step. If so, I'll try to feature a card once a week with the instructions this way.
Have a great day!--Lisa

Stampin' Up! I{Heart} Hearts: Friend

Hi everyone!
Today I am sharing a card my stamp clubs made this month using the I {Heart} Hearts(117010-wood;118571-clear) and Vintage Vogue(117690-wood;118598-clear) sets from the 2010 Occasions Mini from Stampin Up! The 4 x 8 Whisper White base is folded in half and mounted onto an Old Olive Scallop Square(115950) cut with the Big Shot(113439). The colored the floral vine image with my Stampin' Write Markers to stamp in the lower right corner as well as on the inside of the card. The main image is backed by three layers of card stock squares" Old Olive 2 3/4", Bermuda Bay 2 1/2", and Melon Mambo 2 1/4". The Melon Mambo piece is embossed with the large floral image from Vintage Vogue. The heart is stamped in Bermuda Bay on Whisper White, cut out, and mounted with Stampin' Dimensionals. Paper piecing beneath the main image adds the finishing touch.

Stampin' Up! Beautiful Wings: Honoring the Girl Scouts of America

Good Morning!
Today is National Girl Scouts Day and I'd like to pay tribute to all the scouts and their adult leaders. This card is to celebrate the "wings" ---the skills--- these girls acquire through scouting to help "...make the world a better place." Find out more about the Girl Scouts here.
I created this card using the Top Note Bigz Die and the Big Shot. I folded a standard sized card and placed the fold just beneath the top cut on the die. The result is this fun -shaped note!
I cut a full Top Note from this little cloud print from the Welcome Neighbor paper pad(FREE with your $50 product order until March 31st!) and trimmed the top to match the top fold of my card. I used my Two Way Glue Pen and Chunky White Glitter to accent a few of the clouds. I also trimmed the card base so the Bermuda Bay base would peek out around the edges.
The butterflies were also cut with the Big Shot and the Beautiful Wings Embosslit. I sponged the butterflies with the corresponding ink colors and well as the edge of the card base. The sentiment was stamped with images from the Tiny Tags set that I colored with my Stampin' Write Markers. After punching this image with the Medium Jewelry Tag Punch, I pierced a hole for my Linen Thread that I used to tie it to the Bermuda Bay Polka Dot Grosgrain Ribbon. Makes a really cute little note card to send to a friend!

Stampin' Up! Flower Folds: Fabric Flowers

Stampin' Up! Flower Folds Bigz XL 115970

These were so much fun and so easy to make! I starched my fabric and then cut out with the Stampin' Up!Flower Folds Bigz XL Die on the Big Shot. I added a bit of tulle for interest. Button is from my stash of estate sale finds and finished with a bit of crochet thread tied through the button holes. So cute; don't you think? I think these would be great on a tote bag and even on a cardigan sweater for spring! How about on a little girl's headband? Lots of possibilties!

I sewed one group together then tried Crystal Effects to "build" the second flower...super quick!
I'll be posting another one soon...this one I made especially to wear as a pin on a blouse.

Have a great Sunday evening!---Lisa
