Man(ic) Monday: Stampin' Up! Bells and Boughs

Here's a look for a man-ly card using just a little bit of ribbon as an accent. The Always Artichoke Seam Binding Ribbon from the Stampin' Up! Holiday Mini softens the look. I placed a piece of Sticky Strip along the right side of the Deck the Halls Designer Series Paper and scrunched the ribbon as a pressed it onto the strip. Vintage Trinkets brads provide extra security :).

The holly and sentiment from Bells and Boughs was stamped in Early Espresso Ink on Soft Suede card stock.

Versatile Stampin' Up! Designer Series Paper

Today's man-ly project is a little treat I made for my dear one who has been working such long hours! I think I will try and hide it where he will just happen to find it...love doing that :).

Before I show you the "goods", I want to encourage you to sign up for my mailing list! I don't want you to miss out on all the fun stuff that our subscribers receive! It's easy! Just fill out the form here and check your inbox within five minutes to confirm...simple. Do it now! I'll wait :)...

OK... you're back. Now for the share!
I just love the Designer Series Paper from Stampin' Up! It is SO versatile. This paper is from the Nite Owl collection...Halloween paper! But, in true Stampin' Up! fashion, most of the pages in this set have one side that is not JUST for the particular occasion or holiday. Which gives you more for your money...we know how we like that!
The little treat box is made with the Big Shot and the Matchbox Die and I attached some cute little "sweet on you" tags to the ribbon with a Vintage Trinket. I put a couple of miniature chocolates inside... Hope it makes him smile.
Do you ever leave little surprises for someone? Try it and watch the magic!

Man(ic) Monday: I Can See Clearly Now

I can see clearly now, the rain is gone, I can see all obstacles in my way Gone are the dark clouds that had me blind It's gonna be a bright (bright), bright (bright) Sun-Shiny day.---Johnny Nash

I just love this song...ok, I know I am dating myself but that's ok. The 50's are great!... and, I mean the age, not the decade! :)
Here's another man-ly card "clearly" made with that classic, Lovely as a Tree. You can get SO many different looks with this set. It is THE set to have! It's been around a while...and I think it's a keeper.
The base of this card is made from one of our Window Sheets from Stampin' Up!. I also stamped the image in Black Stazon on a Window Sheet and did a silhouette cut around the trees. I sponged over the stamping with my Pumpkin Pie and Garden Green Craft Ink Spots and then clear embossed to give it some texture. I attached the image to the front of the base with two Metallic Eyelets set with the Crop-A-Dile and tied some Hemp Twine through these. On the inside, I adhered some of the Woodland Walk Designer Series Paper and then covered the back of the base with a piece of Crumb Cake card stock to make a neat finish...no adhesive showing through the Window Sheet base.
Try working with the Window Sheets on your next project. These are clearly a good choice to add to your supplies!
Wishing you a bright, sun-shiny day!---Lisa

Man(ic) Monday: Quality

Quality- well-made or durable. Top of the line;excellent; high class. To provide the best.

This is the definition I chose from Define Your Life for this man-ly card for my husband; just perfect. He always "inspects" my cards and gives an honest, helpful critique. I love it when he comes in and says, "What did you make today?" That's him...my top-of-the-line guy!

"Quality" is also very fitting for the great products from Stampin' Up! If you haven't given our crafting supplies a try, what are you waiting for? ;) I promise, you won't be disappointed.

Happy Labor Day!

Tuesday Tip: My Favorite Summer Set

When asked the question..."what is your favorite summer set?"--- I had to answer "Sentimental Journey" from Stampin' Up! This set is not only great for cards but is also perfect for scrapbooking those travel memories as seen HERE. Fun stuff!

These cards started off as one but it was going no-where fast when I decided to split it in two---one side to use as a card; the other opens to reveal a journaling block for a scrapbook page.
The card features the coordinating designer paper, Travel Journal, which is a must have with this set! I used the blue distressing ink from the Distressing Essentials Kit to add some interest along with some hardware and the journey definition from Define Your Life.

Man(ic) Monday: Stampin' Up! Woodland Walk

My husband and I made a quick trip to a beautiful area in the Ozarks this weekend and most appropriately, the "man-ly"card for the day features the new Designer Series Paper from Stampin' Up!, Woodland Walk. I just love the combination of colors here and super excited at having Wild Wasabi back...this time as one of our core colors!

I distressed the designer paper and the Define Your Life "you" with the Tea Stain Distressing ink spot from the new Distressing Kit. You know how I love the vintage/distressed look and this little kit makes it so fun! There are some great files and sanding pieces in the kit,too...check it out!

ink and inspirations Man(ic) Monday: Stampin Up! Sentimental Journey

Another masculine style card for you this Monday using Sentimental Journey(118513-wood, 120075-clear) and Travel Journal Designer Series Paper(117156) from the Summer Mini Catalog from Stampin' Up! and that great must-have set from the Idea Book and Catalog, Define Your Life (114950).

I brushed my VersaMark Pad(102283) directly along the edges of some of the layers and then embossed in gold(109129), and the compass image is embossed on the designer paper. Gold Brads(104337) provide an accent above the Journey definition. My Stamp-A-Ma-Jig (101049) stamp positioner helped to align the border.

Stampin' Up! Masculine Birthday Card

Happy Saturday, everyone!

Today is my dear husband's birthday and this is the card I designed especially for him. I knew that I wanted to use the Wood Sheets (116309) so I tried punching them with my 1 1/4"Square Punch(104400) and it worked like a charm! A little sponging in Soft Suede Classic Ink helps deepen the tone and accentuate the grain of the wood. I sponged Basic Black Classic Ink just on the edge of each square for definition.
The image is from Autumn Harvest Rub Ons (115731). I placed the entire image over the Wood Sheet squares but was careful to try and rub it only on the squares and not the spaces in between...my Adhesive Remover picked up the tiny bits that I wanted to remove.
Teeny Tiny Wishes (115370) provided the Happy Birthday sentiment stamped with WhiteStazon(106960) on the Round Tab(108340) punched from Basic Black.

Order your supplies to make this card in the ONLINE STORE. These Wood Sheets are a must to have on hand for your hand-made masculine cards and projects!

Have a great day!---Lisa

Stampin' Up! Night and Day

Hi everyone!
Today I have a card I made using the specialty paper from the Holiday Mini, Night and Day, that is only available for ONE MORE WEEK! I was inspired by a card made by Heather P from Clean and Simple Stamping.
The base is the printed window sheet cut at 4 1/4" x 11" to make a portrait card. Strips of various patterns from the Night and Day paper pack take center stage! The black satin ribbon will be available on January 5th in the new Occasions Mini! Sentiment is from Teeny Tiny Wishes on Whisper White cardstock punched with the Word Window Punch and backed with the Modern Label Punch in Basic Black.
Get your Night and Day Specialty Paper (116768; $11.95) today! It makes such elegant cards!...great for masculine cards, too!
Thanks for checking in!--Lisa
Inklings:
  • When creating a card using a window sheet as a base, be sure to use cardstock layers on the inside and outside of the card to cover the adhesive.
  • Realize that your designer paper can be the focal point of your card! Designer papers from Stampin' Up! say "wow"!

Stampin' Up! Holiday Mini: Autumn Splendor

The Autumn Splendor(116503) set in the Holiday Mini (available 'til January 4th) is such a great set for masculine cards. My husband needed a card for a working buddy that would have space for about 12 coworkers to sign. I decided to go with a card that would fit in a legal size envelope---finished size 3.5 x 9 in Naturals Ivory Cardstock.
The other papers used in this creation are from my stash of the retired Textures Specialty Paper pack along with Not Quite Navy and cardstock Vellum. I used my 1 1/4" square punch and stamped a leaf from the set in VersaMark on the Naturals Ivory squares then clear embossed. Using Soft Suede and Not Quite Navy Classic Ink, I rubbed the two inks over the embossed leaves (emboss resist technique). Then, I inked all of the squares around the edges with Soft Suede as well as around the navy dotted vellum and the card base.
Inside the card, I created a personalized message with My Digital Studio. The "just for you" sentiment is stamped in Not Quite Navy on cardstock vellum and punched with the Round Tab Punch.
Loved making this card...the images in this set is awesome! Get yours through my website and click on "Shop Now".
Inklings:
  • Using a repetition of a punched shape is a great way to add a special interest to your cards...try circles, stars, snowflakes, flowers...
  • The emboss resist technique is one of my favorites! Love mixing different colors to bring out the embossed image...try it! You'll love it!

Be back tomorrow with another sneak peek!--Lisa ;)
